The revitalization of the copper sink is becoming ever more popular in The United States and European homes. Many metal kitchen sinks distributed throughout these regions have incorporated large rubber pads with commercial adhesive. These large rubber pads are common place for many Stainless Steel sinks as the metal bowls can cause a drum like effect when the running water from the faucet directly contacts the bottom of each bowl. However, this needed feature has been overlooked by many copper sink manufacturers. The Copper Warehouse provides very large pads on each of its kitchen sinks. The pads are placed on the outside faces of each bowl so that the pads are not visible when installed. These pads dramatically reduce the vibration of the metal which causes the unwanted noise. The Copper Warehouse assures the Whisper Soft Sounds of your kitchen sink.
Copper is one of the best materials which can be used in the kitchen or any desired germ and bacteria free environment. Granite countertops have been desirable in the kitchen for its brilliant looks, and tough to penetrate surface, which makes it a very clean product. Copper is currently one of the safest and cleanest products one can offer in the kitchen. Many germs and bacteria like E.coli can not survive on the surface of copper. We invite you to visit www.copper.org and read the many articles on the health benefits of copper. Copper releases positive protons which makes it very difficult for bacteria to live on. This natural character of copper will keep your copper sinks sterile for a lifetime.

Here is one great example of the natural characteristics of copper listed on www.copper.org website.

Similar studies show that copper is equally effective at eliminating the often deadly E. Coli (O157:H7) as well as Listeria monocytogenes - a bacterium that originates in soil and water and is spread during food handling.

Some 500 people die from Listeria contamination every year, according to the CDC, and approximately 2,500 become seriously ill. Eliminating bacteria such as Listeria is one of the reasons we rinse raw vegetables and fruits before eating and are instructed to cook all meat and poultry thoroughly.

When Listeria bacteria are placed on selected copper-based surfaces, they survive only 60-90 minutes, the study found. However, the bacteria can survive up to several days on stainless steel, the predominant work surface used in most food-service establishments, including meatpacking plants and restaurants.

Research is continuing, but according to the CDA these and other studies suggest that a better choice for food handling, hospital and healthcare facilities would be doorknobs and handles, push plates, work surfaces and other touchable hardware products made from durable, cost-competitive copper alloys.

All of the copper products purchased through The Copper Warehouse are made of 100% pure copper. Our products do not contain any harmful materials such as lead. All of the welds in our products are made using 100% pure copper rods not solder. Furthermore, all of our kitchen sinks are only welded in the corners of the bowls and not in the base of the bowls. Our bowls have a slight radius in the bottom to help prevent sitting water. Other manufacturers may weld the bottom plates to the side walls creating additional welds in the base of each bowl which detracts from the fluid look of the base pan to the sidewalls. This is done by other manufactures because they do not use as large of copper sheets. The Copper Warehouse assures the highest level of quality on all of our copper products.
The thickness of copper is measured by Gauge. The lower the gauge numbers the thicker the metal sheet. All of our copper sinks are made to a gauge of 16. Some manufacturers may consider this thickness an upgrade, but at The Copper Warehouse 16 gauge copper is standard.
Most copper products are finished in one of two ways; they are either lacquered or left unfinished. The products that are left unfinished are often referred to as having a "Live Patina". This means the products will change their appearance over time as the copper oxidizes. This does not have any harmful health benefits; in fact, the live patina assists in the process of eliminating germs and bacteria and is considered exceptionally healthy. However, many people do not like the appearance that can occur when the natural copper "Patinas" unevenly over time.

The Copper Warehouse does not offer any "Live Patina" products. We offer a Heat Bonded Lacquer finish. Lacquer can be brushed, rolled, sprayed or bonded with heat. The other processes of applying lacquer are inferior to heat bonded. We apply the lacquer and then place the products in a large oven, or kiln, like device which fuses the lacquer at over 1200 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes our heat bonded lacquer much more durable then a standard lacquer. Copper products from The Copper Warehouse can withstand temperatures of 570 degrees. Our finishes will keep their appearance the same so that you will always have a clean and refined copper look over the lifetime of your product.

Our finishes only require soap and water for maintenance. Do not apply and harsh abrasives or chemicals, as they will damage the lacquer finish. Our copper products have such great health benefits that soap and water keep your sink perfectly clean and always ready to use.
